Visitor's Contest!!!

I hope you had a GREAT weekend and are charged up for the week ahead.

I will be posting how I came about getting to Belize one of these days on my blog, but today, I want to share with you a fun contest we started this weekend at the headquarters church in Guinea Grass. The first group that reaches 300 visitors, wins!

Elias Vicente
Carlos Lima

We have two team captains. Bro. Elias Vicente & Bro. Carlos Lima. Bro. Elias has been coming to the Guinea Grass church for around 10 years. He has been pastoring a church for around a year now in a small village called Fire Burn. Bro. Carlos' mother was our first convert when we came here. He has been coming to the Guinea Grass church steadily for a little over a year.

These brothers chose their teams and now the contest begins.

The Cars

The teams each have a car that will race across the width of the church, which is 40 feet wide, or 480 inches.

The contest goes like this. Each group has to bring visitors (visitantes). The visitors count only once. For each visitor, the car will move forward 1.6 inches. For you non-math junkies out there, we divided the width of the church (480 inches) by our visitor goal (300) to get 1.6 inches! :o)

The prize? The losing team will cook a meal for the winning team.

BUT, in all reality, neither team is losing, we're winning souls!

We are excited about this contest!

Yesterday was our "first" day of the contest. The blue team (Bro. Elias) had 26 visitors and the yellow team (Bro. Carlos) had 11 visitors. 37 first time visitors! Thank you Jesus!

The race has begun!
I almost forgot to tell you about the other part of the contest. The team captains have to wear the same tie each Sunday. The one that lost for the week gets his tie cut. It's all in good fun!

Pastor gets to start the tie cutoff. :o)
AND it's cut!!!

I did forget to get pictures of the visitors. Oops, until next time then.

I will keep you posted weekly on our contest results. So, make sure you come back regularly to see what's happening!

Have you done this type contest before? Did you have good results?

Put your responses in the comment box below.

p.s. Please pray that we win these visitors to the Lord! We want them to become saints, not just visitors.
